Three-Year-Old Child Died in School Bus Accident

Three-Year-Old Child Died in School Bus Accident on Friday in Calhoun County. He has been identified as Elliot Ridge Morgan. The coroner said the boy and his father were waiting on another kid when the accident occurred on Bernard Couch Drive near Anniston. The incident took place around 3:30 p.m.

Elliot was taken to Regional Medical Center in Anniston where he was pronounced dead around 4 p.m.

First responders reported that children were on the bus at the time of the crash. Few other details were immediately available on the accident which was still under investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

However, Dr. Eric Mackey of the Alabama State Department of Education released a statement following the crash. He said:

“The events that unfolded today involving this wonderful little three-year-old child are devastating beyond comprehension. Our thoughts and prayers are with the child’s family and the entire White Plains community as well as the driver and all the school family. We send our deepest condolences to everyone impacted by this tragic loss.”

Back in August, a Phenix City teen also died in a school bus crash.

Seventeen-year-old Christopher Rogers was the senior class president at Central High School. Phenix City police said the teenager was going south on Highway 165 when the bus turned onto the highway. The bus was carrying three students and a monitor. Neither the passengers nor the driver was injured. However, a passenger in Rogers’ car was treated for injuries.

The full details of these accidents are not known. However, bus drivers and bus company operators have a duty to passengers and other road users.
