It’s where we live, work, raise our families, and build relationships with the people and organizations around us. That connection is also why giving back to our community has always been an important part of who we are.
Founding Partner Stewart E. Vance and Managing Partner Kyle D. Weidman recently spoke with WSFA 12 News about the firm’s community involvement and why supporting our neighbors matters to our entire team.
“Wanting to give back to the community is just kind of how I was brought up,” said Stewart, who originally hails from Troy, Alabama.
That philosophy guides our involvement with local schools, nonprofits, athletic programs, community events, and other organizations working to make a difference throughout Montgomery and the surrounding communities.
Some of the most meaningful opportunities to give back occur outside the courtroom. There are many people throughout Montgomery doing great things for others, and The Vance Law Firm is proud to play a part in those efforts.
“I think the community places so much trust in us,” Kyle said. “They call us when they’ve been in the worst moments of their life. I think it’s good that we give back to the community that trusts us.”
One organization we are especially proud to sponsor is the Miracle League in conjunction with the YMCA of Greater Montgomery. Kyle now serves on the Executive Board for the Montgomery YMCA, furthering his involvement with an organization that creates opportunities and strengthens communities throughout the River Region.
Our team recently had the opportunity to attend the Miracle League Kickoff and see firsthand the impact the organization has on local athletes and families. The Miracle League helps ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate in sports, experience being part of a team, develop new skills, and make friends.
“We want them to know that we’re here for them in addition to just representing them,” Kyle told WSFA. “We want them to know that we’re here to help the community as well.”
Education is another cause close to our hearts.
Through our partnership with Montgomery Public Schools, The Vance Law Firm helped create a program that made reading and creativity fun for some of the district’s youngest students.
Students in kindergarten through second grade received coloring books created with the help of a local Montgomery artist. They colored the pages and completed reading logs for opportunities to earn weekly prizes, including a trip to the zoo.
We celebrated 12 Coloring Book Contest winners and the creativity and hard work they demonstrated through the program. Seeing students get excited about reading, creating, and participating made the partnership especially rewarding for our team.
For Stewart, whose family includes educators, supporting education has a personal significance.
“Education is big to me and my family,” he told WSFA. “The kids seem to love it, and it’s been a lot of fun.”
Our work with the Miracle League and Montgomery Public Schools represents just part of The Vance Law Firm’s broader commitment to the River Region.
The firm has also hosted free Pictures with Santa events for local families, partnered with the Montgomery Biscuits on community events, supported the local motorcycle community through Show at the Shed, and worked with numerous schools, universities, athletic programs, nonprofits, and charitable organizations.
Another organization especially important to our team is the Heart of Alabama Food Bank. The firm is working on a partnership with the organization, which serves communities across 35 Alabama counties.
“The Heart of Alabama Food Bank services over half of the counties in our state,” Stewart told WSFA. “I didn’t know that when we started, and it’s amazing to me that we are helping provide sustenance and the health and well-being to so many people in our state, which is important.”
The Vance Law Firm has also partnered with WAKA News on the “Pay It Forward” program, which recognizes people who are making a positive difference in the lives of others.
That commitment to service was recently highlighted in the July 2026 edition of Stroll Wynlakes & Wyndridge. The magazine’s Business Beat feature looked back on our nearly three decades of serving clients while highlighting the community partnerships that have become an important part of our firm’s identity.
The feature offered a look at what community involvement means to us and how being an advocate extends beyond practicing law to investing in people and supporting the place we call home.
Community involvement is ultimately about what we can contribute to the place that has supported our firm for nearly three decades.
When asked during the interview what he hoped these partnerships would provide The Vance Law Firm in the years ahead, Kyle summed up our approach:
“I don’t know they’ll provide us anything. I hope that we are helping provide for the community. That’s the most important thing to us.”
Montgomery and the River Region have supported The Vance Law Firm for nearly 30 years. We’re proud to return that support by investing our time and resources in organizations, programs, and people working to make our community a better place.
